EDUCATION
Our mission is to equip individuals with the skills necessary to enhance water safety during Woodside Nippers Sundays and Life Saving Patrols. Whether you're a newcomer or looking to upskill, our courses cover essential ocean safety, rescue techniques, and first aid.
Courses on offer include:
Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC)
The Surf Rescue Certificate must be completed by members minimum age of 13. This award requires the ability carry out a pool swim of 200m in 5minutes and they will be required to run 100m, swim 100m, and run 100m within 5 minutes. Skills taught are basic resuscitation, first aid and surf rescues. An examination is held after 6 to 7 weeks training by a qualified trainer from the Club.
Bronze Medallion
Eligibility for this award requires the candidate to swim 400m in under 9 minutes. The candidates will then be required to run 200m, swim 200m, and run 200m within 8 minutes Candidates must perform simulated ocean rescues using a variety of equipment. Skills taught include resuscitation and first aid, radio procedures and communication, and surf knowledge. This course usually runs from 6 to 10 weeks and involves an exam conducted by external assessors.

Members are able to further their life saving qualifications by completing advanced training courses.
