Education Programs

The Mandurah Surf Life Saving Club offers a number of other education programs throughout the season. The dates for current 2017/2018 season courses can be downloaded by clicking here

Senior First Aid Certificate: aims to develop the knowledge and skills for a person to manage emergency First Aid situations and deliver competent emergency care until the arrival of professional medical support. Candidates must be a minimum of 15 years of age.

IRB crew certificate: allows surf lifesavers to obtain qualifications in crewing an inflatable rescue boat. Candidates must be a minimum of 15 years of age and hold their SLSA Bronze Medallion.

Advanced Resuscitation Certificate: aims to develop your skills and knowledge to use oxygen, airway management devices, and automated external defibrillators during resuscitation, and to administer oxygen to casualties.  Candidates must be a minimum of 15 years of age and hold their SLSA Bronze Medallion.

IRB driver award (Silver Medallion): the aim of this course is to help candidates develop skills and knowledge to safely and effectively drive an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB). Candidates must be a minimum of 17 years of age on the date of final assessment, hold and be currently proficient in the SLSA awards: Bronze Medallion and IRB Crew Certificate, have met the Marine Licensing requirements in Western Australia.

Basic Beach Management (Silver Medallion): the aim of this course is to prepare candidates for initial work as a Patrol Captain, Team Leader, Duty Captain and similar roles. Candidates must be a minimum 17 years of age
and be proficient in the Bronze Medallion OR have held a Bronze Medallion and be proficient in a surf award.

Age Managers Course: this is a nationally recognised course that will give members a greater understanding of how to be an Age Manager. The course covers duty of care, risk management, growth and development of nippers, education and more. All parents or youth members aged sixteen or older who take on the role of an Age Manager at their club are expected to complete the Age Manager Course. The course is made up of four parts:
